Welcome to ICI

The Inter-Cultural Institute

ICI offers courses, workshops and presentations, carries out applied research and gives advice to profit, non-profit governmental and quasi governmental organizations.

ICI has been active since 1982.
Prof. David Pinto, Integration, Migration & Diversity Expert, is the founder of ICI. The courses and training offered by ICI are based on his theory about differences between people (at macro, meso and micro levels) and the method he has developed to effectively deal with these differences without compromising anyone's individuality, thereby resolving the conundrum of diversity. It is to this method that politician Jan Marijnissen refers in his public statement of November 19, 2006 (see "Press" under Autobiography).

Pinto's theory lies at the heart of the PhD dissertation completed by physician-researcher Hans Harmsen, who received his PhD from Erasmus University in Rotterdam in 2003. His research shows how practical and effective the method is for everyone.

ICI and Pinto are inextricably linked.
This is why the person and the Institute share the same website.

Some personal values:
  • Man is the artificer of his own happiness
  • The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do. Walter Bagehot
  • Happiness does not come from what you have but what you are.
  • Energy and passion mean more than age.
  • To know and to accept yourself is a condition for accepting others
  • With neither friends nor enemies, life has no meaning
(10th proposition in my Ph.D. thesis)
  • Independence is worth more than freedom.
  • Man is not the creature of circumstances. Circumstances are the creatures of man.
    Benjamin Disraeli (Eng. 1804-1881)
  • What does not kill us makes us stronger!
Ce qui ne nous tue pas nous rend plus fort. Nietszche
  • To fall is neither a disaster nor a disgrace. To stay down is both.
  • The best way to predict your future is to create it.
  • When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at
the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us. Helen Keller
  • The universe likes speed. Do not hesitate. Do not consult. Do not doubt. When there is a opportunity, when the desire and the intuitive inner nod are there, then you act. That's your job. That's all you have to do.
    Dr. Joe Vitale
